This afternoon, I am screwing in wire hangers to the backs of seven frames that will be hung at the visual arts gallery tomorrow. Not to mention the fact that I am rushing to get my book printed with twelve stories + twelve images I’ve worked on out of twenty over the past eight months. This week also marks the last week of classes I will be taking as an graduate student at School of Visual Arts MFA Illustration as a visual essay program.
Several people have asked if I was stressed out about graduating, and my response usually is “Why should I be?”. I am well aware of what I am getting myself into, and know where I want to go. Plain and simple, I want to make art work for a living. Wither it’s for an editorial page, a book cover, an interactive game for the iPad, or work to be shown on the gallery wall, I am open to many possibilities that present themselves. I’ve been super lucky to have a few magazines recently work with me, had a lot of bands/musicians get in touch with me to make artwork for them as well as a few galleries getting in touch with me to do somethings over the next couple weeks/months. So I have to say that I am off to a good start. But I digress….
If you are in the New York City Metro area on May 5th; come and see 21 outstanding illustrators work (myself included), whom have created thought provoking projects, made for print, the web, ipad, and even animated. I am sincerely grateful to have spent the last two years with my colleagues, and hope you have a chance to see their wonderful work.
